Sandro Botticelli was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance.
Although he was highly regarded in his time, his reputation declined after his death, until he was rediscovered by the Pre-Raphaelites in the late 19th century.
Today, Botticelli's paintings are appreciated for their linear grace, which represents a unique blend of late Italian Gothic and Early Renaissance styles, despite being created in the latter half of the Italian Renaissance.
